Keyword density refers to how frequently you should deploy your keyphrase without overdoing it, and running the risk of keyword stuffing.

Density comes down to how often your keyphrase is used relative to the total number of words on a particular page, by percentage, and there are two formulas used by the SEO community to calculate keyword density.

Watch today's video to learn how to calculate keyword density, the ideal keyword density and how much you should worry about it.

Thanks for a great informative video, I have a question if I have 2600 words of content on the homepage for a plumbing website and trying to rank for the keyword Plumbers New York. How many time can I add the keyword Plumbers New York in the content. Second question is if I switch the keywords around for example New York Plumbers. Will this be counted as separate keyword and how many times can I use that to 2600 words of content

      Hey Ali,
That’s a great question. You definitely want to stay away from keyword stuffing, and be sure to use the keyword naturally. If you have a few similar keywords you are going for, that’s fine to mix and match. The key is to keep it natural. Here is our blog post about keyword density that explains all of this a little more: https://www.mediavine.com/keyword-density/
